What hard water does to hair
This is where minerals start to matter: a coating builds on the strand over successive washes, bringing dullness, tangles and faster colour fade. Chelating (detox) washes move from optional to part of the routine.
The washing routine for Furano
Make a chelating (detox) wash part of the rhythm, roughly every fourth wash, and use a gentle everyday shampoo in between. Condition well after each wash, as minerals roughen the cuticle, and expect colour-treated hair to fade faster than at home.
Climate, from recent records (Open-Meteo, ERA5 2015-2024): July is the warmest month, averaging 25°C by day, and humidity peaks in July at about 83% on average. In the humid months, frizz is the main event; anti-humidity styling matters more than wash frequency.
Local note: Two city sources: Nakagoku sending station 140 mg/L and Shimogoku pump station on the Sorachi River 102 mg/L; headline is the mean.
Plugs and power for your tools
Sockets: Type A and B. Supply: 100 V, 50 Hz.
Japan runs at 100 V, lower than almost anywhere else: a dryer wound for 230 V only will barely warm up here, and one bought here can burn out on 230 V back home. Check the label for dual voltage (100-240 V) before you plug in.
Plug, voltage and frequency: IEC World Plugs and national standards.
